The Brooklyn Tabernacle

God has brought the Brooklyn Tabernacle from a handful of members in a small rundown building in a difficult area to a congregation of more than ten thousand weekly attendees. Pastor Cymbala and his wife, Carol, who directs the popular Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, have been used by the Lord not only to preach the gospel in the inner city of New York but also to see new churches grow out of the congregation across New York as well as domestically and internationally. The ministry of the church has from the outset reached out to the cross-cultural melting pot of New York City. It is comprised of men, women, and children of all ethnic and national origins. Central to the growth and expansion of the church, however, has been the continual emphasis on prayer, from the Tuesday night prayer meeting that is attended by thousands to the prayer band, made up of members of the church devoted to boldly calling on the Lord for needs from around the world.

The Lord Said, "Come" | Pastor Jim Cymbala | Sunday Service | The Brooklyn Tabernacle
Jesus says to all of us, "Come." For some people, that's an invitation to be saved from their sins. For those of us who already believe in Jesus but may have strayed, it's an invitation to come back to Him. Every one of us can go to Jesus with our messes, brokenness, and problems, and He’ll make us right as we abide in Him. God doesn’t need us to fix ourselves before we come to Him—He does the fixing! Let's come to Jesus today. Join Pastor Jim Cymbala for today’s daily devotional from Psalm 119:65–72. When people are wrong, accuse us, or hurt us, we can take shelter in God’s love. And when we’re the ones acting wrongly, He loves us then too. Even the chastening of God expresses His love to us, as it helps us live godly lives. However we may be feeling today, we can take refuge in the peace and love of God. Let’s thank Him for that! Don’t miss a single daily devotional with Pastor Cymbala! How amazing is it that Almighty God wants us to spend time with Him? He keeps our prayers in heaven—they are that precious to Him! In our churches and our personal lives, we need to be more in prayer. The most effective stance we have against Satan is a strong prayer life. The Holy Spirit makes us aware of situations we can avoid when we spend time with Him. Let’s get praying! Good things don’t just happen—they occur when God’s people work with and for the Lord to bring His good will all over the earth. Jesus doesn’t need us—He is the light of the world. He knows exactly who we are and how we’ve failed, but He invites us to participate with Him in His work anyway! Tomorrow is never promised, and yesterday is passed. We have only today. Deception is everywhere. Leaders, relationships, and situations all can lead us away from the will of God if we aren’t careful. Whether it’s a new job opportunity, a potential partner, or an event invitation, we need to seek the Lord about everything. No matter how long we’ve attended church, we can still be fooled. Let’s be on guard against the deceptive ways of the devil today and every day.
